Expert reports are used in courts of law and the Consumer Trader & Tenancy Tribunal and therefore have to be written so that they pertain and are fitted for legal or public argumentation. The expert report is written for the court and tested by the legal representatives for the parties involved in the case.

A Forensic report may incorporate other reports from other experts which provide the basis for the opinion given by the Consultant. A typical example could a structural defect identified by the Consultant followed by a subsequent report from a Structural Engineer detailing rectification works that would be priced by the Consultant.

All expert reports are written in accordance with the Experts Code of Conduct Part 28,rule 9C and part 28A, rule 2.
